Samoa’s Teuila Festival Returns in 2026 Showcasing the Best of Samoan Culture

European travellers invited to experience one of the Pacific’s most colourful cultural celebrations.
Samoa’s flagship cultural celebration will return from 30 August to 5 September 2026, inviting European travellers to experience the colour, creativity and traditions of one of the Pacific’s most vibrant cultural festivals.
Following a 35-year legacy as the Teuila Festival, the 2026 celebration will take place under the name Measina Festival, reflecting Samoa’s commitment to showcasing and preserving its rich arts, culture and traditions. Under the theme “Celebrations of Arts and Culture”, the festival will bring together communities, artists and visitors for a week-long celebration of fa’a Samoa – the Samoan way of life.
Taking place in Apia, Samoa’s capital city, the festival will feature a diverse programme of cultural performances, traditional dance and music, local cuisine, arts and crafts, sporting activities and family-friendly entertainment. It will provide visitors with an authentic insight into the customs and traditions that continue to shape everyday life across the islands.
The 2026 programme will include traditional sports, fun family activities, long boat races, paopao races and the Samoan kilikiti cricket competition. Each evening, cultural and variety shows will be held in front of Samoa’s government building, creating a vibrant gathering place for communities and visitors to celebrate together.
A key focus of the festival will be encouraging younger generations to engage with Samoa’s cultural heritage. The Ministry of Education and Culture will host the “Samoa Ne’i galo lau Aganu’u” competition – meaning “Lest We Forget our Culture and Traditions” – inviting students from colleges and high schools to explore and celebrate their heritage.
The Samoa Tourism Authority will also support youth participation through cultural entertainment competitions for groups and organisations, culminating in the prestigious Miss Samoa Pageant, which celebrates Samoan identity, talent and cultural pride.
Named after Samoa’s vibrant red ginger flower, the teuila, the festival captures the colour, energy and spirit of the destination, giving visitors the chance to connect with local communities and experience the warmth of Samoan hospitality first-hand.
