Samoa Beach Resort Enters a New Era of Leadership and Renewal

Samoa Beach Resort has entered a new chapter following its transition into the beachfront property formerly operated as the Sheraton Samoa Beach Resort at Mulifanua. The change marks an important step in the ongoing evolution of one of Samoa’s most established resort destinations.

Leading this transition is To’oto’oleaava Mark Wendt, who has returned to the resort as General Manager. Bringing extensive experience across hospitality, aviation, and executive leadership, Mr Wendt’s background spans hotel operations, people management, and service excellence—positioning the resort for renewed operational focus and long-term sustainability.

Under his leadership, Samoa Beach Resort is focused on re-establishing itself as a high-performing destination that delivers authentic Samoan hospitality aligned with modern international standards. The emphasis is on consistency, genuine service, and creating memorable guest experiences.

“The Sheraton era established strong foundations in systems, service awareness, and brand recognition. Honouring that legacy means retaining the discipline and standards guests valued, while evolving with a people-focused and practical approach,” said Mr Wendt. “Visible leadership, open communication, and empowering staff are central to our direction. We are keeping what worked well, improving what did not, and aligning the resort with a clear identity that reflects Samoa Beach Resort today.”

The resort’s existing team is recognised as its greatest asset, with a strong focus on retraining, upskilling, and resetting service expectations.

“Service standards will be strengthened through hands-on training, clear procedures, and consistent leadership involvement. Where required, selective recruitment will support the team, while prioritising the development of current staff. When employees feel supported and proud, service quality naturally improves,” Mr Wendt added.

Rather than competing on scale or extravagance, Samoa Beach Resort is positioning itself through authenticity and personal connection. Guests can expect warm, intuitive service, a relaxed beachfront atmosphere, and a strong sense of place—ensuring they feel welcomed and connected throughout their stay.

As part of the transition, the resort confirmed that its casino is now fully operational and available exclusively to in-house guests and approved visitors seeking a unique entertainment experience. The property’s location—just five minutes from Faleolo International Airport and close to the Mulifanua Wharf—enhances its appeal for both leisure and business travellers.

The resort features 133 Ocean Front View Deluxe Rooms, a Conference Fale, Chapel, swimming pool, direct beachfront access, and non-motorised water activities. Dining experiences are available at the Apolima Buffet Restaurant and the South Pacific Restaurant, offering panoramic views of Savai‘i, Manono, and Apolima.

Looking ahead, a series of phased improvements are planned, including guest room and public area refreshes, operational enhancements, and elevated food and beverage offerings. Success will be measured through guest satisfaction, staff retention, consistent service standards, and the resort’s reputation both locally and internationally.

“The goal is to leave the resort stronger than it was found—operationally, culturally, and financially. When guests return, staff take pride in their work, and the resort earns industry respect, revitalisation is on the right path,” Mr Wendt concluded.
