Representation Plus at the WTM: Greater Miami 2019

Updated: Sep 3, 2020

Welcome back to our weekly series: Representation Plus at the World Travel Market (WTM)! As you may have discovered from last week’s entry on Egypt’s 2019 coverage, Representation Plus are reflecting on WTMs past! This week, we’re remembering Greater Miami at 2019’s WTM.

The event saw Representation Plus shifting tourism for tomorrow’s adventures through events management and trade marketing, arranging appointments for tour operators with Greater Miami hoteliers. With around 30 meetings organised with the product managers from internationally renowned suppliers, Nobu Hotel Miami Beach, EB Hotel, The South Beach Group, Hilton Miami Downtown and the Trump National Doral had a busy three days at the WTM.

Greater Miami CVB partnered with American Airlines to celebrate their increased services to Miami in the year prior. Seats from the airline's premium economy cabin were available to try out by guests at the event, which were proven to have been popular from their launch at the 2018 WTM. On the Tuesday of the WTM, American Airlines executives were invited to the Miami booth for drinks to commemorate 30 years of American Airlines’ service to and from Miami. We also commissioned the creation of a special cake made by prolific baker and owner of Cakeboy, Eric Lanlard, which was enjoyed by all who attended.

On the final day of the WTM, Representation Plus organised a VIP evening at the US Embassy which saw product managers, media members and MICE buyers invited for drinks, canapes and networking. There was even a photo wall with a professional photographer for guests to remember the event by. The evening was commenced with a welcome speech from US Ambassador Robert Wood Johnson, followed by addresses from an American Airlines executive and Greater Miami CVB's Director of Travel Industry Sales, Judith Patron Fernandez. Another highlight of the event was the Miami hotels’ offer of prizes to excited attendees, helping them to further market themselves to the travel trade. The VIP evening was a success and a fantastic finale to the busy program of WTM 2019.

Through setting up connections with the travel trade in several dynamic events, Representation Plus ensured that Greater Miami was set firmly in tour operators’ minds for the incoming travel-booking season, shifting tourism for tomorrow’s adventures!

We are in weekly contact with the WTM team keeping our finger on their pulse!
