What's New in Miami This Summer

Get ready for an unforgettable summer in Greater Miami & Miami Beach, where the energy is rising and the experiences are hotter than ever. From hosting an international sporting spectacle to unveiling trendy new restaurants and dazzling hotel openings, the destination is buzzing with reasons to plan your perfect summer escape.

New Hotels and Renovations

One of South Beach’s iconic hotels, The Shelborne By Proper has emerged from a $100 million top-to-bottom refresh. This oceanfront gem on Collins Avenue, with 251 guest rooms, suites and villas, maintained its original historic facade and 1950s-era landmark diving board at the pool, but both have been lovingly restored. Dine at the hotel’s signature restaurant, Pauline, scheduled to open this summer, for a seafood-centric menu that mingles Caribbean and Latin American flavours, or cozy up at the cocktail bar, Little Torch. The hotel emphasizes wellness and social programming, with an all-hours fitness/wellness centre, bikes to borrow, pool cabanas and a private beach club.

On Collins Avenue in the Art Deco District, the newly opened Donatella Boutique Hotel & Restaurant is the sister property to The Villa Casa Casuarina, formerly the Versace Mansion. The Ocean Drive hotel defines the word “boutique,” with only six thoughtfully designed rooms, each flaunting Mediterranean flair. Rooms come with a dedicated concierge and butler, and guests have beach access with luxe daybeds. Dine at Donatella Restaurant, which focuses on Southern Italian cuisine with dishes such as black truffle cacio e pepe, Skull Island prawns and rigatoni.

Andaz Miami Beach is a Mid Beach newcomer that sets the backdrop for a dreamy holiday at check-in, where guests are met with stunning views of the turquoise Atlantic Ocean. Relax with a treatment at Ondara Spa then spend the day sunbathing at either of the hotel’s two pools. Foodies will be impressed by three restaurants by the José Andrés Group, including the inventive dishes at The Bazaar (set to open soon) and Aguasal, featuring the coastal flavors of Spain, Greece and Miami.

New Attractions & Museum Exhibits

Experience the wonder of the Sistine Chapel in Miami. At the Michelangelo Immersive experience at 1212 Lincoln Road in South Beach, roam through different rooms to gawk at replicas of the Renaissance master’s most iconic works, from sculptures to frescoes, including a life-size reproduction of the “David” statue. A central feature of the exhibition is a large-scale digital recreation of the Sistine Chapel. The experience runs until 12 June.

Until 01 September at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Downtown Miami, check out the new exhibition “AI: More than Human.” The immersive, international exhibition, curated by London’s Barbican Centre, showcases the evolution of artificial intelligence. Guests will experience interactive installations, futuristic digital landscapes, thought-provoking research and AI-driven art. The exhibition is included with all museum admission tickets.

At the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County in Downtown Miami, summer is going to get steamy with Broadway Across America’s presentation of “Chicago,” from 17 to 22 June at the Ziff Ballet Opera House. Broadway’s longest-running musical and winner of six Tony Awards has one great song after another.

New in Food & Drink

A decadent steakhouse transplant from Chicago, Maple & Ash is a now crafting fiery feasts in Miami Worldcenter in Downtown Miami. Live wood fire is the restaurant’s main concept, with much of the cuisine cooked in the hearth. Instead of an icy seafood tower, its tower of seafood sizzles with roasted oysters, seared scallops and more fire-roasted shellfish. Then dig into wood-fired steaks and chops. There is also an irreverently-named tasting menu.

Flaunting stunning views of Biscayne Bay, Amara at Paraiso has launched its first-ever brunch buffet, every Sunday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. The bayfront restaurant by James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Schwartz is serving an expansive buffet lined with raw bar selections, charcuterie and artisanal cheeses, homemade pastries, a carving station, breakfast items and a huge dessert spread. The buffet is $89 per person, plus tax and gratuity, and can be enjoyed for two hours. There are also bottomless drink packages.

Founded by the team from locally loved Macchialina, Bar Bucce is a new pizzeria, Italian market and wine bar in Little River. Stop by for slices of pizza, approachable and rare bottles of wine, and other Italian goodness.

After garnering attention for its innovative blend of Cuban cuisine and digital art culture at its original Le Jeune Road location, Bored Cuban has expanded to Brickell with a new pop-up and takeout through its traditional “ventanita” window. Expect signature favorites such as Cuban-inspired flatbreads, guava and cream cheese pastries, and a nostalgic adult take on a classic combo meal.

Set to open in June, BH Prime at the elegant St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort promises theatrical tableside moments and classic steakhouse favorites reimagined with global flair. Helmed by Executive Chef Adrian Colameco, the menu will tout USDA prime long bone tomahawk and Japanese A5 Wagyu, a Petrossian caviar program, indulgent sides, and a globally inspired cocktail program developed in collaboration with mixologists from Hong Kong, Singapore and Bangkok.

New In Sports

Soccer will take centerstage throughout the U.S. this summer during the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup 2025, and Miami will be smack in the middle of the action. Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens will host several matches during the global soccer tournament, featuring the world’s best soccer clubs and stars. Group matches will take place on 14, 16, 18, 20, 23 and 25 June, with Round of 16 games on 29 June and 01 July.

New in Cruising

PortMiami continues to secure Miami’s place as the cruise capital of the world. This past spring, MSC Cruises unveiled its new four-level, 490,000-square-foot facility, officially the largest cruise terminal in the world, and now the cruise line has launched MSC World America, sailing from Miami to the Caribbean. The expansive ship impresses with 19 restaurants, including the only Eataly at sea, and the only overwater swing ride, the Cliffhanger, which swings out over the ocean. Another new way to sail to the Caribbean from Miami is on Norwegian Cruise Line’s fresh new ship, Norwegian Aqua. The ship is making waves for its spacious suites and first-of-its-kind amenities, like the new Aqua Slidecoaster, a hybrid rollercoaster and waterslide. And those who enjoy weekend cruising can look forward to three- and four-day cruises on Royal Caribbean’s mega-ship Wonder of the Seas, beginning August 25. All of the itineraries include a day at the cruise line’s private island in the Bahamas.

New in Air Travel

Avelo Airlines is launching nonstop service from Wilmington International Airport to Miami International Airport (MIA). The low-cost airlines’ new seasonal route between Wilmington, Delaware, and Miami operates on Fridays (southbound) and Saturdays (northbound) from 06 June to 16 August 2025.
