Nestled in the lush foothills of Mount Vaea, just minutes from central Apia, Moanalei Villas is poised to become Samoa’s premier boutique luxury villa accommodation. With construction well underway, this exclusive development will offer a new benchmark in high-end hospitality on the island.
Privately owned and passionately developed by a family based in both Samoa and Australia, Moanalei Villas features seven individually designed boutique villas—each with its own private 14-metre infinity pool and breath-taking panoramic views spanning from the mountains to the ocean and into town.
Construction began in 2022, with the first three villas and the on-site restaurant scheduled for completion by the end of this year. The remaining four villas are currently under construction, with the full resort expected to open to the public by 2026.
“The vision was simple,” says Managing Director Caitlin Lei-Sam. “We wanted guests to wake up, dive straight into their infinity pool from the master bedroom, and watch the sunrise over the ocean. Our location in Apaula Heights offers the perfect blend of privacy, tranquillity, and accessibility—just a five-minute drive from the Clocktower and the heart of Apia.”
Designed with luxury and comfort in mind, the first three villas feature oversized layouts, double-height ceilings, expansive bedrooms and bathrooms with double showers and feature baths, and fully equipped kitchens and laundries. The seamless indoor-outdoor flow and lush mountain surroundings create a serene retreat unlike anything currently available in Samoa.
The Moanalei concept is more than just a luxury escape—it’s a bold investment in the future of Samoa’s tourism industry. “While we aim to cater to the current tourism market visiting Samoa, the villas also aspire to attract affluent international tourists who view Samoa as an untouched and thrilling new destination,” Lei-Sam adds.
In addition to the villas, Moanalei will house a fine dining restaurant open to both guests and the public, offering an upscale menu for lunch and dinner. The restaurant will also serve as a venue for private events, functions, and conferences—bringing a much-needed high-end hospitality option to Apia’s business and social scene.
