Majorca’s government has developed a Lighthouse Trail to allow visitors to enjoy the historical, cultural, ethnological, and maritime heritage of its coastline. This 285-kilometre itinerary connects the towns of Capdepera and Andratx by foot, in 12 stages where lighthouses and dry docks are the key focus.
The itinerary starts in Cala Agulla, continuing to Santa Ponça, crossing Capdepera, Son Servera, Sant Llorenç, Manacor, Felanitx, SantanyÃ, Ses Salines, Campos, Llucmajor, Palma, Calvià and ending in Andratx. This route includes the island's main lighthouses, which are integral to the coastal landscape and never stop amazing visitors for example:
The Capdepera lighthouse stands out for its association with music, as one of its lighthouse keepers composed songs that are now performed by the Artá choirs, and the singer Joan Manel Serrat refers to it in one of his musical pieces.
The Portocolom lighthouse is known for its historic significance including the German occupation during the Spanish Civil War.
The Cap de Ses Salines lighthouse is the first in Spain to be powered by solar panels.
The Cap Blanc lighthouse offers some of the best sunsets in Majorca and incredible cliffs.
Along the 285 kilometres, there is also the option to stop in urban and tourist centres such as Camp de Mar, Cala Ratjada, Cala Millor and Porto Cristo, which contribute to the trail's charm.
For hiking enthusiasts, this route combined with the Pedra en Sec and Artà -Lluc routes, takes visitors all the way around Majorca, a 719-kilometre itinerary across 31 municipalities.
